Grit N Barite

Nickname

Grit

Significance of Name or Number?

“Grin and bear it” is a good attitude to have with a sport like roller derby. I’m a geologist, so I play with grit and dirt, and Barite is a type of mineral. 83 just amuses me because it’s a cat face emoji.

When Did you start playing Roller Derby?

February 2017

What do you like the most about Roller Derby?

Roller derby has been wonderful for my physical and mental health. I was not very athletic as a kid, but now I keep wanting to push myself to be a better skater and athlete for my team. Nothing feels better than making progress while cracking jokes with these amazing ladies!

Short Bio

I am a student at UA, and I have a wide range of nerdy interests, from anime to video games to sci-fi to the paranormal.

I like too many musical styles to pick one favorite, but I think the song that best embodies roller derby is “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen.
